thank you ericka for responding to our cry.

sometimes i feel like no one is listening.

our townshipp will be 100 years old in 2012 and since our township burned down back in the early 1900’s the residents were too fearful to rebuild but today there is a new sheriff in town and we are here to stay and to make many improvements.

first we need to rehab the current homes, cleanup the community and keep it clean.

before we start making plans for the building of affordable housing we need to up date the existing homes and bring our landmarks that are historical sites back to their original glory.

our streets are in much need of resurfacing with our tax dollars and measure t monies.

cal trans recently compleated a new exchange to connect the east and west sides in order to make it an easier and safer crossing because the old crossings were so dangerous that many residents lost their lives trying to cross.

even though it took well over 40 years to make the much needed improvements they were finally completed.

now we need our county road department and the board of supervisors to get a move on it and repair fairmead blvd.

they made a completely new road on the west side that is only travelled by very few residents and dump trucks. perhaps the reason that it was built was because madera county is building a 3 million dollar fossil museum. fairmead’s population is 1,641. 90% of the residents are of low or no income.

we don’t have a grocery store nor a convenient store in the neighborhood.

the residents have to travel 12 miles to the south and 7 miles o the north to see the doctor and purchase groceries.

thee is plenty of property vacant that is ajacent to the new exchange.

it would be perfect for a grocery store, service station and restaurant.

if we could just build an economic development base to generate revenue for our our community.

Congratulations for the received donation. You may want to take a look under EPA grants. I beleive they have some resources under their office of Environmental Justice for these types of programs and development. Good luck! Keep us informed if you can.

as the chairperson of fairmead community & friends i am seeking assistance for the residents of our rural low income community to assist with economic development so that our people can move out of poverty and into opportunity.

if you know of someone that can assist our organization please let me know.

we received a donation of 5 acres of land to build a community center, park, garden and socer field for starters.
